The Quilts 250 Show , Stitching in the Spirit of Democracy, was organized by the Concord Piecemakers, the Quilters Connection, the Rising Star Quilters Guild and was held in Concord, MA on March 22-23, 2025. All three guilds have wonderful websites, and seem very busy with all types of events! The event location, Concord Academy held over 200 quilts including two of mine. The show, sponsored by the Concord 250 Celebration Committee, recognized the 250th anniversary of the American Revolutionary events of April 19, 1775, along Battle Road in Lincoln, Concord, Lexington, and Arlington, Massachusetts.
Showcasing the creative energy of quilters near and far, Quilts 250 presented quilts that visually express through fabric and thread themes related to our country’s founding, evolution and the dynamic range of quilting arts in the last 250 years.

Quilt themes included Antique, Traditional, Contemporary, Spirit of 1775, and Quilts of Protest. Quilts in bloom were paired with floral arrangements and also on display were the organizing guild’s examples of Comfort Quilts which the guilds lovingly donate to veterans, nursing homes, disaster recovery sites and camps for medically challenged kids. My quilts, Dimensional Dresden accepted in the Traditional category and Quilt Hieroglyphics accepted in the Contemporary category were both made with Island Batik fabrics exclusively.

A lecture called American Quilts: The Art and Story of a Nation
by Gerald Roy of the Pilgrim/Roy Collection and Jennifer Swope, Curator of Textiles at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, showcasing quilts from Roy’s collection. That would have been a wonderful lecture to hear!

Thanks to my daughter Holly for attending and picking up my quilts, (saving $$$$$$) and Deborah Gonet for accommodating the mailing and pick-up!
