ACCUQUILT, ISLAND BATIK, and BABYLOCK
Beginning in June 2023, AccuQuilt is partnering up with Island Batik and Baby Lock in a pay-it-forward campaign called “Covering the World: One Quilt at a Time.” Quilters and designers from AccuQuilt, Island Batik and Baby Lock are on a quest to donate their time and quilts to a charity of their choice.
My charity of choice is True North to Freedom, a Michigan charity whose purpose is to create awareness, change, and hope concerning those exploited through the atrocity of labor and sex trafficking.

This organization started in 2015 with a prayer group that grew into a movement founded on these beliefs:
- Every life has value.
- We are called to love, nurture, and care for each other as unique and beautiful individuals.
- Everyone has the basic right to live a life of freedom.
True North to Freedom works alongside survivors and assists them as they move forward toward full recovery and healthy integration into society, including education, job placement, nutrition, housing and stability. They currently offer case management services, emotional support, and spiritual guidance to their clients. They provide limited financial and physical support, all of which come through donations. They also work to refer their clients to outside services that can provide mental and physical care for them. True North To Freedom currently offers awareness trainings, volunteer opportunities and welcomes partnerships with other organizations.
The quilt I donated was my original design, the Island Queen Diamond quilt, my Island Batik September 2023 Challenge, Pieced to Perfection offering.

- Project Type: Quilt
- Design: Queen of Diamonds
- Size: 67” x 77”
- Fabric: Island Batik Pin Dot Floral collection by Kathy Engel
- Technique: Paper Piecing (EPP, FPP)

The Queen of Diamonds quilt is a popular quilt pattern that has been around for many years. It is a variation of the traditional diamond quilt pattern which was a quilt of diamond-shaped pieces that were arranged in a specific way to create the illusion of a larger diamond. The pattern has been around for so long that it is difficult to trace its exact history.
